The WPS Native American Education Program thanks Author and illustrator - Mr. Mark Mindt for presenting " KODA THE WARRIOR " to Warroad Public School K-12 classes. KODA the Warrior empowered and inspired his students, with his personal story. Words of encouragement, discussions on good behavior, good attendance, teachings and respect ! RESPECT how fitting, this month's Seven Grandfather teaching! Koda brought his Story pouch made out of buffalo hide and staff students had an opportunity to hold the horn of a buffalo that was 1000+ years old. (aged it has become fossilized) Koda also brought his traditional flutes, grandmother, grandfather and cousin! HOKA HEY !

Good afternoon everyone! We are in the season of illness and we are seeing a ton of it in the health office. Just a reminder of MDH and MDE's policy: If your student is running a temp of 100.3 they need to be fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever free reducing medication in order to come back to school and they need to be vomit and diarrhea free for 24 hours in order to come back to school. Please help curb the spread by following this policy. Remind your students to cover their cough and frequent handwashing. Please continue to call me if you have any questions or are reporting an illness. November is " Native American Heritage Month" The Seven Grandfather Teaching for this month is RESPECT. Respect ~ Manaaji’idiwin Pronounced ~ Ma-naw-jay-ee-dewin Respect is the gift from the Buffalo. The buffalo provided native peoples with everything they needed to survive. In doing so this reminds us to respect all living things. To honor all of creation is to have respect, accepting someone for who they are and acknowledging that we are all different in unique ways, this builds feelings of trust, safety, values and wellbeing. The Buffalo also symbolizes strength and providing for others. To be a Warrior, you uphold the values and traditions, to act with integrity and respect towards others. Miigwech ! Ms. A. Lund's class celebrated the teaching during PBIS, by taking part in an activity with her class. Love their unique and creative Buffalo masks!!

Mr. Barker's Honors Biology class worked with Mr. Culleton to design and 3D print animal and plant cells. They were printed black in color, so students painted the organelles and presented their projects to their classmates.
